Vice President of Academia Asi es mi Peru
Lisset Caramantin began her dance journey at the age of 5 at Sor Rosa Laraburre, where a teacher recognized her talent and selected her to perform—revealing a passion for dance that her parents had not yet seen due to her shy nature. From that moment, dance became an important part of her life, and she continued training in folkloric dance until the age of 10.
At age 10, Lisset moved to the United States with her family in pursuit of greater opportunities. Shortly after, she joined Raíces del Perú in Houston, where she trained and performed from ages 11 to 18, strengthening her connection to Peruvian culture through dance.
In addition to folkloric dance, Lisset expanded her training in salsa and ballroom (both Latin and standard styles), performing at various salsa congresses across multiple states. During her college years, she further developed her technique by studying ballet and jazz. In 2024, she graduated with a Masters of Public Administartion at Tarleton State University.
Lisset is passionate about all styles of dance and believes that dance is a powerful form of self-expression that allows individuals to communicate emotions, build confidence, and connect with others.
